Eyes On The Road Ahead

Eyes On The Road Ahead

Yesterday‘s church sermon absolutely touched my heart. Don’t you love when that happens, when God puts you in the right place at the right time?

Our Pastor said there are two places to look - through the windshield and through the rearview mirror. He said to GAZE through the windshield and GLANCE through the rearview mirror.

It made me stop and think - how often do I do the opposite? I find myself glancing at the future and gazing far too long at the past. But God doesn’t want us stuck in yesterday’s      mistakes, regrets, or even yesterday’s victories. He calls us to keep our eyes fixed on where He’s leading us. The road ahead may be unknown, (and unknown for far too long) but      with Him in the driver’s seat, we can trust that every mile brings us closer to His good plans.

Because friend, if you gaze too long at the road behind versus the road ahead, you could be in serious danger.

“The road behind is NEVER changing. The road ahead is EVER changing. - Pastor Sam Polson. West Park Baptist Church (Knoxville, TN)

He was referring to Paul in the Bible. Paul would not change to make his mission easier, in spite of his uncertainty and weakness, he looked and trusted God to preach the message.

Pastor Sam went on to say: “the Lord uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary.”

That really had me thinking…am I... "ordinary"?

When I started this blog a couple months ago, the enemy was in my ear saying no one wanted to hear what I had to say. That I was not equipped enough to write about stuff in the Bible. Heck, I’ve only been a believer for 16 years. I didn't grow up in church. I was doubting myself and almost didn’t hit publish. But I did. You can read my first blog post here if you'd like:  https://littleblockofhappy.com/blogs/news/welcome-to-my-block

But God…

If you know me, I am not the “get up in front of people” kind of person. My journalism teacher in high school said that I wasn’t a very gifted writer. He marked every page with lots of red ink…🤣 So don’t expect a perfectly written blog and definitely don’t expect to see me doing all those cutesy videos like the EXTRAordinary people! lol I’ll just be over here writing from my heart, under a soft blanket, with coffee in hand, trying to inspire and encourage on days that may feel bleak…because lifting you up lifts me up too. 💕

But God…

I woke up this morning to see that over 7400 readers have hit my blog space since the original one I “almost” didn’t publish on April 30, 2025. If you're one of my readers, I am beyond grateful for you! I pray that my words inspire you, even just a smidge. Thank you for hanging out with me. xo

I guess He had a different plan because here I am. Still hitting PUBLISH! #nottodaysatan

It’s never too late to become a believer. I was 37… and when I look back in the rearview mirror, God has filled my life with abundant blessings since that late evening January 26, 2009. I don’t take one minute for granted. (Well, I probably do, you know what I mean but He knows I’m grateful for every one! 🥰)

As Pastor Sam said, this is where we meet the power of Christ. My blog posts aren't perfectly written. I don't have a publisher or even a proof reader...it's just little ole me being real with a cup of coffee in my hand (I mean...coffee is my love language!)  and it takes a few cups to write this (errrr maybe a POT! lol) but it is my prayer that my words are words of encouragement and that they lift you up and bring you hope...and maybe even a laugh or 2.

“The Lord uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary.” If one person is changed from reading my blog…if one person finds hope… if one person finds encouragement…perhaps one person feels the love of God that leads them to salvation…I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. Or rather what HE set out for me to do. "Just hit publish." - God

So today, let’s choose to keep our gaze forward. Let’s trust God with the road ahead, believing that what’s coming is far greater than what’s behind us.

Glance back only long enough to learn the lesson, then fix your eyes on the hope and blessings still to come. He uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary. You are loved my friend! Till next time...

Grateful for you,

Kim xo
