Hope: The Anchor for My Soul
Share
A couple weekends ago, I attended a women’s retreat at my church. The speaker was Kim Jaggers and oh my goodness, she’s AH-MAZING! If you’ve never heard of her, she has a beautiful testimony. You can find her at https://kimjaggers.com. She was such an encouragement to me and her words of hope just penetrated my soul.
We painted this anchor together as a group and my sweet friend painted the word HOPE on it for me (because let’s face it, my handwriting isn’t the greatest! Lol) I have it hanging in my office as a reminder to always have hope that God will see me though whatever I’m facing. It’s also a sweet reminder of that inspirational weekend I spend with several of my friends and sisters in Christ. I'm a very visual person, when things like this are front and center, they're just sweet reminders of those little things that make me smile.
Life doesn’t always go the way we planned. Some days are bright and full of joy, while others feel like waves crashing against everything we’re trying to hold together. In those uncertain, stormy moments, it’s easy to feel adrift - like we’re floating aimlessly without direction. But even when everything around us is shifting, we have something solid. Hope.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” – Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)
Hope is not wishful thinking or blind optimism. It’s the quiet confidence that God is who He says He is and will do what He’s promised. It’s the assurance that even when we can’t see the shore, the anchor holds. That anchor is Jesus—steady, unwavering, and full of love for us.
When discouragement whispers, “It’s never going to change,” hope shouts, “God is still working.” When fear says, “You’re not strong enough,” hope replies, “God’s strength is made perfect in weakness.” And when we feel forgotten, hope gently reminds us, “You are seen, you are loved, and you are held.”
No matter what you’re facing today - whether it’s a quiet ache, a loud storm, or a season of waiting - remember this: Your hope is not in circumstances. Your hope is in Christ. And He will never let you drift too far.
Let hope anchor your soul today. Let it keep you grounded in truth, steady in faith, and full of expectation for the good that’s still to come.
You are loved my friend,
Kim xo
