Joy Is Worth Carrying Into Every Season

As June comes to a close, I keep thinking about one simple truth:

Joy isn’t something we find once. It’s something we choose again and again.

This month, we’ve talked about finding joy in slow days, choosing joy on ordinary Tuesdays, embracing Wednesday wisdom, celebrating gratitude, and discovering that joy often shows up in the smallest moments.

None of those moments required perfect circumstances.

They simply required paying attention.

Sometimes joy looked like sipping coffee before the house woke up. Sometimes it was cheering from the baseball stands, laughing with family, crossing another task off a never-ending list, or finally noticing a beautiful sunset that had been there all along.

Joy isn’t reserved for vacations, promotions, or milestone celebrations.

It’s found in everyday faithfulness.

One thing I’ve learned is that happiness often depends on what happens around us. Joy grows from Who walks with us.

Life still brings hard days.

There are doctor’s appointments, unexpected bills, disappointments, long practices, overflowing laundry baskets, and seasons when we wonder what God is doing.

But even there, His presence doesn’t leave.

That’s where joy quietly takes root.

As we step into a new month, I don’t want to leave joy behind as if it belonged only to June. I want to carry it into every ordinary Monday, every stressful afternoon, every answered prayer, and every prayer that’s still waiting.

Maybe that’s what choosing joy really means.

It means waking up each day and trusting that God is already at work before our feet ever hit the floor.

It means looking for evidence of His goodness instead of waiting for life to become easier.

It means remembering that gratitude fuels joy, and joy strengthens faith.

So before we close the chapter on June, I have one challenge for you.

Pause for just a minute.

Think back over this month.

Where did God surprise you?

What prayer did He answer?

What small blessing almost slipped by unnoticed?

Write down three moments that made you smile. Thank Him for each one. Then ask Him to help you notice even more reasons for joy in the days ahead.

Friend, your circumstances may change.

Your schedule certainly will.

But God’s goodness remains the same.

And because of that, joy is always within reach.

May we keep choosing it…one ordinary day at a time. 💛
