Proverbs Study - Week Four

Proverbs Study - Week Four

Hey sweet friend!

We’ve made it to Week Four of our Proverbs Study - can you believe it? We’re almost finished! As we continue walking through these chapters, we’re diving into some of the most practical wisdom in the entire book. Proverbs 20 through 26 call us to pause, reflect and look inward at the way we live and love others.

Our anchor verse this week, Proverbs 21:2, says:

“A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.”

These words stop me in my tracks every time. Because let’s be honest - we can justify almost anything when we’re in our own head. We can convince ourselves that we’re right, that we’re “just sharing,” that our words aren’t that harmful, that our pride is really confidence. But God doesn’t just see our actions - He sees our motives. He weighs our hearts. And as women, we're surrounded by a LOT of other women who like to share their thoughts about things...and other people.

This week’s readings remind us that true wisdom shows up in the quiet places:

When we choose humility over pride.

When we bite our tongue instead of spreading gossip.

When we celebrate others instead of letting envy take root.

When we walk away from conflict instead of fueling the fire.

Each of these moments is an opportunity to show the character of Christ. It's also a moment that reflects your own character...

Sometimes, the most spiritual thing we can do is to simply pause - to let God weigh our hearts before we speak or act. It’s in those pauses that wisdom grows, humility is shown, character is reflected and grace is given. Oftentimes, the pause is the hardest part, right?

So, as you read through Proverbs 20–26, ask yourself:

Are my words bringing life or tearing down?

Am I quick to listen and slow to speak?

Do I carry peace or do I stir up strife and spread gossip?

Is my heart aligned with God’s heart or am I chasing my own way?

Let’s commit this week to slowing down and inviting God into those moments where we’re tempted to react. Let Him shape your responses and soften your heart. Because when we let Him weigh our motives, He replaces pride with peace, envy with contentment and gossip with grace. 💛

Reflection for the Week

Take a few quiet minutes each day to pray this simple prayer:

“Lord, weigh my heart. Reveal any pride, envy or unkindness in me and replace it with Your wisdom and love.”

Then, journal one way you saw God at work in your words or actions. Small, steady steps lead to lasting change. 🌿
